Pre-installation: Co-washing your hair extensions before installation is recommended. It is important that you keep the plastic security band around the bundle during this process to avoid tangling.

How to co-wash your raw extensions before installation:

Co-washing your extensions before installation is an essential step that will add luster, shine, and bounce back into the hair for a flawless install. Due to the natural state and delicacy of our raw extensions a gentle cleanse is advised.

Always brush the hair extensions once with a wide tooth comb when it is dry before any co-wash.

Step 1: wash with lukewarm water and add a generous amount of any sulfate free conditioner to it. Mix well to make a semi-fluid conditioner rich mixture. Rinse hair into the conditioner mixture and let the hair sit in conditioner solution for at least 5-6 minutes.

Step 2: Hair extensions should not be handled rigorously and should always be shampooed and conditioned in a downward motion.

Step 3: Comb through the hair extensions with a wide tooth comb or denim brush with the conditioner on it.

Step 4: Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water to cool water to close hair cuticles and lock in moisture & shine.

Step 5: Let hair air dry.

Step 6: Proceed to installation.

All extensions are subject to minimum shedding. However, chemically processing the hair, vigorously brushing, combing and constant wear and tear can lead to hair shedding more than normal.

Tip 1: Re-seal your wefts before installing your hair, open and unravel the bundle of hair. Lay bundle flat before applying a weft sealant of your choice along the top of your wefted bundles. Applying a sealant on one side should suffice, as most sealants seep through onto the other side. Allow sealant to completely dry before installing extensions.

Tip 2: Cutting your wefts is not advised but if you do use a weft sealer on each cut end. Professional stylists suggest folding the wefts rather than cutting individual tracks, as to maintain the integrity of the extension, preventing shedding and makes re-installation easier.

Tip 3: Sew around your wefts, as the puncturing a sewing needle through the wefts will cause the stitch along the track to loosen and immediately causing shedding.

For Lace Based Extensions i.e frontals and closures

Co-washing is essential before installation of lace extensions as well and you should follow step 1 as mentioned previously for bundle hair care. Followed by removing lace extension from conditioner bath by holding both ends of the lace and gently placing on a towel (flat surface). Gently comb with wide tooth comb with conditioner still on the hair from the bottom slowly working your way upward. Please be gentle as to not pull hair from lace or poke holes into lace with comb. Rinse thoroughly once with cool water to close hair cuticles and lock in moisture & shine. Allow lace hair extension to air dry. Brush hair only once after it is completely dry before installation.

Tip 1: Be very gentle when handling lace as the fabric is very delicate: Vigorously brushing, combing, and plucking can cause punctures within the lace.

Tip 2: Do not scratch your lace with foreign objects i.e rattail combs, bobby pins etc. or you will rip the lace.

Tip 3: Avoid bleaching the knots of your lace, chemicals can cause the knots and lace to weaken and may promote shedding. Use a concealer powder in lieu of bleach.

Tip 4: Use spray sealant such as knot seal to help minimize and prevent shredding.

Daily maintenance on wavy/curly textured extensions when worn in its natural state: Brush out all waves/curls using a wide tooth comb. Generously apply water in a spray bottle and a generous amount of anti-frizz leave-in conditioner for a very soft fluffy hold. For a more defined wave/curl pattern use curling cream. Allow hair to fully air dry before manipulating curls.
